We are pleased to invite you to submit abstracts of oral presentations and posters for the 8th International Symposium on Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering which will take place at the Sheraton Hotel, Porto, Portugal from February 27th to March 1st 2008. Abstract Submission deadline November 16th, 2007 (early submission is encouraged)

OBJECTIVES
The key objectives of the meeting are to communicate advances in ‘Computer Simulation’ being applied
across the multidisciplinary areas on medical technical and to highlight areas of future potential such as mechanotransduction, mechanobiology, cytoskeletal systems, scaffold architecture, micro/macro/nanobiomechanics, injury/forensic and impact biomechanics, modelling cellular and molecular mechanics, bioreactor simulation, movement science and human body performance which reflect the many advances that are presently taking place in computer based simulation.

PLENARY PRESENTATIONS
Invited lectures presented by distinguished contributors form the core of the meeting and a
list of accepted invited speakers can be found by clicking on ‘Invited Speakers’ on the website.

PUBLICATION AND PREVIOUS PROCEEDINGS
All presented papers and posters may be submitted after the symposium and will be published in ‘ISBN’ CD format. The proceedings of the previous symposia are available on a fully searchable CD’s, see www.meditech.cf.acuk.

EXHIBITORS AND SPONSORS
Medical devices companies, laboratories, software/hardware and publishing
organisations are welcome to exhibit and display products at the meeting.

SYMPOSIUM FEES
The symposium fees include entrance to all sessions, Buffet Reception on 27th Feb, lunch and coffee breaks on 4 days, the Symposium Banquet on the evening of 29th Feb at Taylor’s Port Caves (see http://www.taylor.pt/mainhtm) and a copy of the proceedings, which will be made available after the meeting.

VENUE
The meeting will be held at the 5 star Sheraton Hotel and Spa, Porto see were substantially reduced rates for the symposium participants have been obtained. (110Euro single and 130Euro double with breakfast). Please go to website to book accommodation directly.
