Dear Biomechanics community,

Following the launch at ISB 2007 (Taipei) and the announcement on this list
immediately after, the new International Foot & Ankle Biomechanics community
(www.i-FAB.org) has made important progress. More than 140 people from 25
countries have registered, exciting web-based initiatives are planned for
2008 and the first i-FAB Congress has been planned.

The inaugural congress will be held at Istituti Ortopedici Rizzoli, Bologna,
Italy, on 4-6 September 2008. Over 2 and a half days, state of the art in
foot and ankle biomechanics will be discussed by researchers and research
users from academia, industry and clinical practice. Excellent speakers have
already confirmed their keynotes for each of these fields.

It will also provide a unique opportunity to influence future research
standards through two international consensus activities, for (1) foot and
ankle co-ordinate systems and (2) foot and ankle terminology, chaired
respectively by Sorin Siegler and Thomas Greiner.

Call for Papers will be made in January.
Conference leaflet and information is now live at
http://www.i-fab.org/ifabconference.htm

You can join the i-FAB community for free using the online registration
form:

We hope you will now put 4-6th September 2008 in your diary, and begin to
consider preparing abstracts for this exciting new congress and community
activity.

I look forward to welcoming you to beautiful Bologna!

Sincerely,

Dr Alberto Leardini (Italy) - Conference Chair

Dr Chris Nester (UK), Dr Alex Stacoff (Switzerland), Dr Dieter Rosenbaum
(Germany), Dr Ming Zhang (China)
