The Department of Kinesiology at UNC Charlotte
(http://www.health.uncc.edu/knes) invites applications for a 9-month
tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Athletic
Training commencing August 15, 2008. The successful candidate will
conduct research and pursue extramural funding to support their research
program. Additionally, the successful candidate will teach courses in
athletic training, and special topics depending on their specific
expertise; further, the successful candidate will serve on thesis and
dissertation committees; advise undergraduate and graduate students;
provide professional service; and contribute to diversity initiatives of
the College. The Department of Kinesiology is a dynamic and rapidly
expanding unit with an interdisciplinary focus and is one of 4 academic
departments / units within the College of Health and Human Services.
Its programs include: a CAATE-accredited entry-level Athletic Training
program, an undergraduate Exercise Science program, an undergraduate
Respiratory Therapy program, and Master's program in Clinical Exercise
Physiology. The Department houses a brand new Biodynamics Research
Laboratory and a Exercise Physiology / Exercise Genomics Research
Laboratory both of which are 2500ft^2 in size. Additionally, the
Department has faculty and doctoral students affiliated with the
Interdisciplinary Biomedicine Ph.D program (http://www.bioweb.uncc.edu/
) and the Center for Biomedical Engineering Systems (www.cbes.uncc.edu

It is required that applicants possess a doctorate in athletic training
/ sports medicine or related discipline from an accredited university;
are a BOC certified athletic trainer; and licensed as an athletic
trainer in the State of North Carolina or eligible for state licensure.
Further, applicants must have teaching experience at the university
level. The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
