Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Health Services Research

Physical Therapist interested in doctoral studies are encouraged to
apply to a joint program between University of Rochester and Ithaca
College Rochester Center. The emphasis of the current doctoral program
is orthopedic biomechanics, combining movement analysis and clinical
epidemiology. Current funded projects by the National Institute of
Health include clinical trials of exercise for subjects with posterior
tibial tendon dysfunction and drug therapy for subjects with pelvic
insufficiency fractures. The collaborative atmosphere on the Ithaca
College Rochester and University of Rochester Medical Centers are
ideally suited for doctoral studies, allowing clinicians to learn
biomechanics and apply their knowledge to clinical problems. The Ithaca
College Movement Analysis Laboratory is a new state of the art facility
located in Highland Park in downtown Rochester. In addition, the
Rochester Region was ranked #1 for Overall Quality of Life among metros
with a population of more than 1 million. (Source: Expansion Management,
