DEPARTMENT OF KINESIOLOGY

TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITION IN

KINESIOLOGY - BIOMECHANICS

POSITION: ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

EFFECTIVE DATE: Fall semester, 2008

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned Ph.D. in Kinesiology/Exercise Science
with
training and research in the area(s) of Biomechanics, Athletic Training,
and/or Motor Control. Candidates must demonstrate the potential for
success
in undergraduate teaching in the areas of Biomechanics, Motor Control,
Anatomical Kinesiology, and/or Athletic Training, and the ability to
communicate effectively and work cooperatively with colleagues on an
ethnically and culturally diverse campus. The successful candidate
will have
the ability to develop and sustain an independent, externally funded
research program involving students that will lead to original,
peer-reviewed publications.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Community-based research and/or
experience
establishing community partnerships is desirable, as is the ability to
develop collaborative projects with other colleagues and departments.

DUTIES: The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in
biomechanics, motor control, anatomical kinesiology and/or athletic
training. In addition, this person will develop a biomechanics
laboratory
for research and instructional purposes. As a growing department, this
person will also advise undergraduate Kinesiology majors and serve an
important role in new program development. Membership on college and
university-level committees is also expected. This person should
demonstrate
a commitment toward the overall enhancement of the students in this
program,
specifically in the development of quantitative and qualitative movement
analysis skills.
