Dear all,

please find below the announcement for the University Professorship
"Molecular Basis of Musculoskeletal Regeneration" announced in DIE ZEIT and
NATURE this week. The professorship has a tenure track option just based on
scientific quality.

For further details please contact me directly or the dean`s office. The
deadline for applications is the 24th of January 2008. Details on the
research structure may be found at the web pages given below and at

Many greetings,

Georg Duda

The recently established Berlin-Brandenburg Center for Regenerative
Therapies is a joint facility of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin
and the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers
(Max-Delbrück-Center of Molecular Medicine Berlin-Buch, GKSS Research Center
Teltow). The highly interactive research program of the center comprises
work in five medical research fields (musculoskeletal, immunological,
cardiovascular, nervous and hepatic systems), each of which is linked to the
overlapping platforms of basic research, bioengineering, and translational
research. With the establishment of a total of 23 new research groups, the
center focuses on the development and clinical translation of novel
therapies and products for the field of regenerative medicine. Based on the
collaboration of a range of partner research institutions and with the
support of the regional development agencies and local industry partners,
the Berlin-Brandenburg region offers optimal conditions for the development
and successful transfer of research findings.

University Professorship
“Biological Basis of Musculoskeletal Regeneration”
Salary Group W2 BBesG

The BCRT seeks to fill this position with an internationally outstanding
scientist, preferably with a focus on musculoskeletal regeneration. The
centre aims to implement modern cell biology research results in a clinical
setting. Thus, this chair should bridge the basic scientists’ perspective on
regeneration with the translational aspects of regeneration, driven by the
clinical needs. Candidates are expected to have an excellent track record in
research and proven success in obtaining third-party funding. Preferably,
the focus will be placed on the translation of cell therapy approaches into
clinical applications in the field of musculoskeletal regeneration. It is
expected that the candidate would be interested to actively participate in
the Collaborative Research Centre SFB 760 “Biomechanics and Biology of
Musculoskeletal Regeneration”. The position is associated with the newly
established Julius-Wolff Institute of Biomechanics and Biology of
Musculoskeletal Regeneration.

The initial appointment is for five years with the possibility of further
extension following successful evaluation.
Successful candidates will conduct visionary independent research, obtain
extramural funding and engage in collaborative projects with groups at the
BCRT, the CHARITÉ, the MDC, the GKSS and with cooperating partners of
Berlin’s universities and other research foundations.
Candidates should be committed to teaching and be able to demonstrate strong
didactic qualities and an interest in innovative teaching methods.
Qualifications: as per § 100 Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG) Junior
Professorship, postdoctoral thesis (Habilitation) or equivalent scientific
achievement and teaching qualifications.

The CHARITÉ is an equal opportunity employer committed to excellence through
diversity. As women are under-represented in scientific work, we explicitly
encourage women to send in their application.

Written applications according to the format specified on the Internet-link
http://www.charite.de/jobs/prof.html should be submitted by 25.10.2007 to

Prof. Dr. Martin Paul, Dean, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, 10098
The CHARITÉ is the medical school of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and
