The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU APL), a
national leader in scientific research and development, located midway
between Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, DC is seeking a
Biomechanical Engineer.

Job Description: Provide both experimental and computational support for
a wide range of biomechanical projects in the Biomedicine Business Area.
Conduct research in APL's 5,000-sq-ft Impact Biomechanics Facility
dedicated to biomechanical research that focuses on the determination of
the human body's injury mechanisms and tolerances under hazardous

Duties: Perform experimental testing and computational modeling
expertise in support of research efforts focused on automotive impact
biomechanics, and blast and ballistic injury.

Required Skills: BS degree in Biomechanics, Mechanical Engineering, or
related field. 0 to 5 years of experience in biomechanics research or g
graduate studies including experimental biomechanics and computational
modeling. Knowledge of data acquisition systems and data processing
techniques. Willingness to assist with biological tissue testing.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired Skills: Self-motivated individual interested in working on a
variety of biomedical research projects in a dynamic environment.
Knowledge and experience with biological tissue testing. Coursework
or relevant experience in finite element analysis. MS degree in
Biomechanics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Familiarity
with anthropomorphic test dummies. Understanding of sensor operation,
data processing and filtering. Experience in a programming language for
data processing (MATLAB preferred; C, C++, or Labview). Knowledge of
dynamics and mechanical properties of deformable bodies.

Special Work Conditions: Candidate will be expected to assist with
biological tissue testing, which will require the strict observance of
biohazard safety procedures. Some travel to test sites and
