The Department of Oral Biology is seeking an Assistant Professor (tenure
track) specializing in tissue engineering and biomaterials with a
specific interest in craniofacial tissues and their replacement. Two to
three years beyond an earned PhD in Biomaterials/Bioengineering and
other related fields is required along with an interest in hard and soft
oral tissue regeneration.

The UMKC School of Dentistry has embarked on an ambitious plan to place
the school at the forefront of research and academic training activities
in the biomedical sciences and has identified the following research
areas as its primary foci: dental/craniofacial bioengineering and
biomaterials, bone biology, and translational/clinical research. Dr.
Michael J. Reed, Dean of the UMKC School of Dentistry, has determined
that the Department of Oral Biology will become the focal point and
resource within the dental school to fulfill the vision of achieving
national and international recognition within these three research
disciplines. In conjunction with this goal, UMKC Chancellor Dr. Guy
Bailey has announced the establishment of a translational/clinical
research institute at UMKC and is actively pursuing $25M from outside
donors to support the formation of the Institute. The School of
Dentistry will play a major role in the Institute.
