A Ph.D. Studentship in Biomechanics is available in the Department of Sport and Exercise Science at Aberystwyth University. The successful candidate will provide an average of one day per week of teaching assistance to academic staff, mainly in the form of supervising laboratory classes and grading work.

You will register for a Ph. D. degree in an area compatible with the interests of current staff, and your fees (to EU / UK level) will be paid. A stipend (currently 12,600) will be payable by quarterly instalments. The post is available from 1 September, 2008 for three years.

The following are essential:
B. Sc. Degree with first or upper second class honours, or Bachelors degree with equivalent GPA, in Sport and Exercise Science, Human Biology, Engineering, or other subject related to biomechanics.
Evidence of post-G.C.S.E. mathematics experience or qualifications.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Excellent skills in Information Technology.
Good spoken English - an IELTS test is not required (International English Language Testing System), but evidence of ability at IELTS Level 7 ( Page 4: http://www.ielts.org/_lib/pdf/IELTS_Handbook_2007.pdf#. ) or above in spoken English should be demonstrated if the applicant is not a native English speaker.

The following are desirable:
M. Sc. Degree in a relevant subject.
Previous experience of teaching or presenting to groups.
Experience in Labview or Matlab.
