Thursday 18 September - Friday 19 September 2008 Imperial College London

Local Organising Committee: Martyn Boutelle (Department of Bioengineering), Patrick Degenaar (Institute of Biomedical Engineering), C. Ross Ethier (Department of Bioengineering), Peter Weinberg (Department of Bioengineering)

New Meeting
Bioengineering 08 is the first in a series of annual meetings that will bring together researchers working on bioengineering and biomedical problems to discuss the latest results, explore new analytical techniques and instrumentation, and set the agenda for future bioengineering research. The meeting will have internationally leading plenary speakers and parallel themed sessions that will explore the latest advances, ideas and problems.

Poster Sessions
Posters from postgraduate students/PDRAs will be a major part of the meeting. All posters will be in the refreshments/trade show area throughout the meeting. On Thursday there will be a formal poster session with an international jury to select prizewinners. The session will finish with an extended social evening.

New Society
An outcome of this meeting will be the inauguration of a new society, The Bioengineering Society, to provide a forum for researchers to discuss the challenges of interdisciplinary bioengineering research.
The meeting will hold an open discussion session on this initiative.

Trade Show
There will be a trade show during the meeting. It will be situated in the refreshments/poster area with excellent access to delegates. Please contact Patrick Degenaar (p.degenaar@imperial.ac.uk) for further details.

Two types of hall rooms will be available: single rooms and a limited number of low-cost shared rooms.
Good rates in local hotels can also be arranged. It will be possible to extend bookings to add a 'weekend in London'. All accommodation will be arranged through the Imperial College Accommodation Office.
