View Full Version : Full-time position (PhD or postdoc) on neuro-mechanical controlof gait (KULeuven, Belgium)

06-15-2008, 11:39 PM
A full-time position for a PhD student or postdoctoral Fellow on the
neuro-mechanical control of gait is available at the Faculty of Kinesiology
and Rehabilitation Science at KU Leuven in Belgium.

In this project, the candidate will concentrate on the interaction of
biomechanics and neural control of gait. For this purpose, initially, an
experimental protocol for the integrated data collection on neural control
(H reflex and TMS) as well as biomechanical characteristics (3D kinematics
and kinetics) of gait is to be developed and tested. In a next step, a
neuro-mechanical driven simulation of gait will be developed based on the
experimentally collected data.

The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in the neural control as
well as biomechanical analysis of gait. Previous experience in measurement
of neural control or biomechanical evaluation of gait is an asset, as well
as previous experience in multi-body simulation.

We welcome candidates with an engineering background to apply, as well as
candidates with a background in human movement science. A strong interest to
work in an interdisciplinary environment is mandatory.

Position is available starting sept. 2008. The work is part of an
interdisciplinary research project for 4 years funded by KU Leuven. The work
will be supervised by Prof. J. Duysens and Dr. I. Jonkers.
