View Full Version : Wacom tablets and Matlab

I want to be able to access an A3 Wacom intuos2 tablet in Matlab. I can
read out (x,y) coordinates in pixels by treating the tablet pen as a
mouse and using some code in the PsychToolbox
(http://psychtoolbox.org/wikka.php?wakka=HomePage) for reading mouse
data, but what I really want is the stylus location in tablet
coordinates - the spatial and temporal resolution is better and more
reliable.

I've tried two ways and failed at both because I don't know enough about
the details:

1. Using Matlab's COM abilites - however wintab.dll isn't in the list of
things Matlab knows about (using list = actxcontrollist; ) and I can't
seem to convince it otherwise.

2. The second option seems to be to use loadlibrary to just load
wintab.dll and wintab.h into memory. However, I'm getting

>> loadlibrary('wintab.dll', 'WINTAB.h');
Warning: Warnings messages were produced while parsing. Check the

??? There was an error loading the library
"C:\Lab_Projects\Tablet\wintab.dll"
Error using ==> loaddefinedlibrary
C:\Lab_Projects\Tablet\wintab.dll is not a valid Win32 application.

I'm using a copy on wintab.dll and a wintab.h file I found at
http://www.wacomeng.com/devsupport/ibmpc/downloads.html but to be
perfectly honest I've no idea if I'm supposed to be doing something more
useful or using different files.

Any help in getting this to work would be greatly appeciated.
