University of Pittsburgh

Starting Salary: $30,000-$35,000 per year depending on experience

Fixed Term appointment for up to 3 years

TMJ Laboratory, Dr. Alejandro J. Almarza, Director, Department of Oral Biology, Department of Bioengineering and the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine University of Pittsburgh: The TMJ laboratory has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow position starting October 2008. The goal of this research is to work on cutting edge tissue engineering techniques for the regeneration of temporomandibular (TMJ) tissues and develop appropriate biomechanical tests. This is a 2-3 year research position with a focus on experimental cellular work (native, stem cells) through the use of novel 3D printing techniques, along with thorough tensile, compressive, and shear tests of the normal, diseased, and engineered tissues. Candidates with doctoral degrees in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering (with strong background/interest in engineered tissues and transport), Mechanical Engineering, Biomechanics, and related disciplines are encouraged to apply. Salary level will be commensurate with previous experience. This position will benefit from close collaborations with the Center for Craniofacial Regeneration, the Department of Bioengineering and McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine.
