A Post-Doctoral Associate or Research Staff position is available in the
Hand Research Laboratory, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of
Pittsburgh. The research projects are related to the study of hand
sensorimotor function, occupational biomechanics, and hand pathomechanics.
An applicant should (1) have a PhD degree or a Master's degree with strong
research experiences, (2) have academic background should be in
biomechanics, biomedical engineering, kinesiology, mechanical engineering,
or other closely related disciplines, and (3) demonstrate a strong interest
in studying biomechanics and motor control of the hand. Expected work for
this position includes some of the following: performing experiments with
human subjects and cadaveric specimens; using motion analysis systems;
programming with Matlab, LabVIEW, and other alternative languages;
collecting, analyzing and interpreting experimental data; constructing
biomechanical and mathematical models; and helping prepare manuscripts and
reports. The position involves close interactions with basic science
faculty, clinicians, therapists, research fellows, residents, and students.
The position is to be filled as soon as possible. Initial appointment will
be two years with possible extension. Interested candidates please send your
