Dear All,

I would like a practical and convenient method to measure ground contact times in the field during running and sprinting activities. Having looked around accelerometers appear to offer a possible solution. Whilst I was initially a bit sceptical of the reliability of such devises for the variables I want to measure, the literature seems to suggest that this is not an issue.

There seem to be several accelerometers on the market. I was hoping that some of you might have experience of using these to measure ground contact times during locomotion, and would be able to provide me with some suggestions or recommendations about which accelerometers might be best to use/avoid. As well as the accelerometers themselves I'm curious about the ease of extracting the appropriate information from any associated software.

Best regards,

Jon
