WPI invites applications for the position of Professor and Department Head in the Biomedical Engineering (BME) Department. The BME department head is responsible for the development of the department within the context of the larger Life Sciences Initiative. The department currently has faculty with expertise in the areas of cellular and tissue engineering, biomechanics, biomaterials, bioinstrumentation, and biomedical imaging, and has an ABET-accredited undergraduate program with approximately 180 students and a graduate program with approximately 50 students. Tenure track 'Cluster Hire' in the Life Sciences.

WPI is aggressively expanding its graduate research capabilities in the life sciences. The university recently opened the $70 million WPI Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center, which houses the WPI Bioengineering Institute and 30 faculty members from four departments who work in interdisciplinary clusters. WPI now seeks five additional tenure-track faculty members at both senior and junior levels to augment strengths in three multidisciplinary research focus areas: Biophysics, Green Energy, and Regenerative Biosciences.
