View Full Version : Post-Doctoral Position in Orthopaedic Biomechanics,University of Pittsburgh

11-17-2008, 06:40 AM
We are seeking a highly motivated engineering post-doctoral researcher to
join our team to study knee ligament injury and treatment. Our long-term
goal is to develop a biomechanical science basis and objective guidelines
for more effective, proactive treatment of knee injuries.

We have established a research framework integrating in vivo, in vitro, and
in silico (computer modeling) approaches. The post-doctoral researcher will
be involved in the integration of all three approaches. Experience with
biomechanical modeling (dynamics and FEM) is essential, but applicants
should also be comfortable interacting with patients and testing cadaveric
specimens. Extensive facilities are available for biomechanical testing, in
vivo joint function (including high-speed biplane radiography) and
modeling/computation. This will be a great opportunity to work closely with
a collaborating team of scientists and clinicians, led by Xudong Zhang, PhD,
Scott Tashman, PhD, and Christopher Harner, MD.

The candidate must have a PhD in mechanical engineering, bioengineering,
biomedical engineering, or a related discipline. He or she should have a
strong work ethic, excellent verbal and written communication skills. The
position is guaranteed for a minimum of one year, with renewal dependent on
performance and continued availability of funding. Salary is commensurate
with credentials.

Interested individuals should mail hard copies of CV (including contact
information for 2-3 references), cover letter, and sample publications and
write-ups to:
