JOB POSTING: RESEARCH SCIENTISTS - CENTER FOR APPLIED BIOMECHANICS, UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA

The University of Virginia, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, School of Engineering and Applied Science, is seeking applicants for two Research Scientist positions at the Center for Applied Biomechanics to assist in the development of human body finite element models for injury prediction and prevention.

Required qualifications include a Ph.D. or M.S. in Biomechanical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field, a strong background and extensive experience in non-linear finite element modeling with LS-DYNA, preferably of both biological and non-biological materials in dynamic loading situations.

Preferred qualifications include a strong background in medical image segmentation, parametric mesh development, material model optimization, contact algorithm selection, failure modeling of biological tissues, and the validation of computational models using experimental results.
