Our client is a global leader in the medical device industry.
We are seeking a Research Engineer to join a growing Biotribology group.

Position: Research Engineer
Location: South

This position is responsible for leading wear performance evaluation
activities of medical implants, instrumentation, and materials. This involves engagement in the product development cycle and interaction with Product Development, Marketing, Regulatory, and Operations groups. Good laboratory practices, applied research, project management, problem solving, and good communication skills are essential.

Design and conduct wear and mechanical performance evaluation activities of medical implants, instrumentation, and materials.
Manage wear and mechanical performance evaluation activities from project conception to design verification testing.
Operate biotribological testing, biomechanical testing, and general laboratory equipment to achieve project goals.
Practice good laboratory practices, record keeping, and documentation in order to comply with internal standards,
industry standards, and external regulatory requirements.
Apply biotribological principles and theories for scientifically rigourous performance evaluation of devices
and to assist in the design of implants,instrumentation, and materials subjected to wear.
Analyze, interpret, and draw conclusions from performance evaluation activities.
Seek opportunities to author technical publications and to present work in technical forums as appropriate.
Assist in the development of biotribological research and publication strategy.
Partner with cross-functional teams (Product Development, Marketing, Regulatory, and Operations)
in the product development cycle as a technical resource.To coordinate testing being conducted at outside laboratories.
Interact with scientists and engineers within the corporation.
Remain current with technology, research, and testing standards within the business.
Analyze new technologies for potential product applications.

Candidate must meet one of the following education and experience levels:
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field with one year of related work experience in medical device biotribology research is required.
