The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, School of Medicine, University of
California, Davis is seeking to fill the Doris Ellison Linn Chair in
Bone Biology. The appointment is at the Associate or Full Professor in
the ladder (regular) rank series. The Chair must be expert in the field
of musculoskeletal tissue biology with proficiency in laboratory
practices. The professor will be expected to work closely with other
members of the Department of Orthopaedics and to develop an independent
research program. This position will work with other faculty within the
University such as the College of Letters and Sciences, the School of
Veterinary Medicine, Department of Engineering and others. University
service and teaching are expected. The endowment will provide an annual
distribution to support the program of the professorship; however, the
securing of additional external funding to support the program is expected.

The School of Medicine, University of California, Davis is a leading
biological and medical research institution. The University of
California, Davis is one of the ten campuses of the University of
California. The School of Medicine is located in Sacramento, the capital
of California and is 20 miles east of Davis, where the main University
campus is located. Sacramento is a beautiful community with a population
of 460,000 with about 2 million residents living in the six county
region surrounding the city. The Sacramento living environment is
outstanding, with ocean and mountains within short drives of the
University—San Francisco is 87 miles to the west and Yosemite Valley is
130 miles to the south. As a doctoral degree granting institution, the
