The Movement Science Laboratory at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, Texas is anticipating an immediate opening for movement science professional.
The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in a gait lab collecting data on pediatric patients and maintaining equipment. Experience with software such as Vicon Nexus, Polygon and MATLAB would be advantageous.
Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is one of the nation’s leading pediatric centers for the treatment of orthopedic conditions, certain neurological disorders and learning disorders, such as dyslexia. It is known worldwide for its innovative research and teaching, and provides ongoing care for more than 17,000 children each year. The Movement Science Laboratory has received consistent institutional support and is equipped with a 12 camera Vicon MX system, 5 AMTI force plates, an MA 300 surface EMG system, a Cosmed portable VO2 system, an Emed pressure mat, a Biodex isokinetic testing machine, a treadmill, and several remote-sensing wearable technologies for assessing functional outcomes in the community. Our mission is primarily research, with a long publication record in treatment outcomes for children diagnosed with club foot, scoliosis, late adolescence hip dysplasia, fibular hemimelia, proximal femoral focal deficiency and cerebral palsy.
The position requires a commitment to be innovative in solving clinically relevant problems using novel methods and technical savvy.
The minimum requirements are a bachelors or master’s degree in engineering, kinesiology, biomechanics, physical therapy or related field; previous work with children and a desire to learn. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
