Dear subscribers,

please find attached the 1st announcement for the fourth workshop for
young scientists of the German Society of Biomechanics taking place in
Muenster, Germany (May 14, 2009)

The workshop is part of the sixth biannual meeting of the German Society
of Biomechanics and especially addressed to young scientists.

In contrast to previous workshops
(http://www.biomechanics.de/dgbiomech/nachwuchs.html) with topics like
'How to write a paper' or 'Successful grant application' a.o., we will
present a thematic workshop titled
*
*___'Determination of actual forces - a biomechanical view inside the
human body'___

The aim of this course is to give an overview of different methods/
approaches (e.g. motion analysis, in-vivo and in-vitro measurements,
animal studies, finite element methods) how forces may be determined
inside the human body.

ACTUAL PROGRAM:

10:30 -- 10:45 am Introduction (Eils, E., Universitaet Muenster)

10:45 -- 11:15 am Motion analysis as an external measuring method -- an
overview with advantages and disadvantages (Wolf, S., Universitaet
Heidelberg)

11.15 -- 11:45 am In-vivo-measurements of forces inside the human body
-- an overview with advantages and disadvantages (Potthast, W.,
Sporthochschule Köln)

11:45 -- 12:15 am In-vitro-measurements of forces inside the human body
-- an overview with advantages and disadvantages (Duerselen, L.,
Universitaet Ulm)

12:15 -- 12:45 pm BREAK

12:45 -- 13:15 pm In-vivo-measurements of forces inside the body of
animals (Heller, M., Charité Berlin)

13:15 -- 13:45 pm In-vivo-measurements and finite element models to
determine strain/forces inside the human body (Silber, G.,
Fachhochschule Frankfurt)

13:45 -- 14:00 pm Conclusion and final discussion (Eils, E., Universität
Münster)

Please visit our homepage (http://www.conventus.de/dgfb2009/) for more
information of the workshop and the biannual meeting of the German
Society of Biomechanics.

Yours sincerely,

Eric Eils
