*ACADEMIC POSITION IN BIOMECHANICS*

An exciting opportunity is available at the Department of Aerospace and
Mechanical Engineering of the University of Liège, in the domain of
Biomechanics.

The department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering is one of the
largest and most vibrant in Belgium and offers the only specialized
Master in Aerospace degree programme in French. Apart of this programme,
the department wishes to appoint a new member of academic staff to
undertake research and teaching activities in the field of Biomechanics
to support the newly started “Biomedical Engineering Degree” at the
University of Liège.

The person appointed will hold a PhD degree in Biomechanics or a
relevant field and will have an international track record of research
in a topic preferably (but this is not mandatory) related to

* Modeling of biological tissues
* Musculoskeletal system
* Prosthesis

The chosen candidate will develop an internationally leading research
activity in a related field and is expected to collaborate with the
other research groups within department and with other groups (Medical
doctors…) in the University as well. National and international
collaborative works will also be encouraged. Faculty duties also include
teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level and supervision of
student research.

*FURTHER INFORMATION*

Applicants must hold a Dr. or PhD degree. They will demonstrate an
international scientific experience in their research fields and show a
strong interest in teaching. Knowledge of the French language is not
required but a commitment to the acquisition of a working knowledge of
the language is expected.

At the end of the selection procedure, the selected applicants will be

- either appointed for a fixed period of not more than 5 years, after
which a tenured appointment will be considered ;
- or directly appointed with tenure.

In both cases, the appointment will start on the 1^st of October 2009 or
later, depending on the availability of the applicant.
