Applications are invited for a unique and excited Post-Doctoral
Research Fellowship in Clinical Biomechanics and Rehabilitation to be
carried out in the Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Calgary and
the Departments of Physical Therapy and Surgery at the University of
Alberta. This position is funded through an Alberta Heritage
Foundation for Medical Research Team Grant investigating
osteoarthritis from the genetic, cellular, tissue, pharmacological,
biomechanical, treatment, and prevention perspective. Over 30
scientists from the Universities of Calgary and Alberta are involved
in this 5-year grant.

Part of the research will be carried out in the Faculty of Kinesiology
Running Injury Clinic which has state-of-art equipment including an 8-
camera Vicon motion capture system, treadmill, clinical assessment
tools, and excellent computing facilities. Part of the research will
also be carried out in the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery
investigating outcome research in this patient population focusing on
functional recovery, health-related quality of life and health service
utilization following an intervention.

Candidates with a PhD or equivalent in Biomechanics or Mechanical
Engineering, Physiology, or other related fields are encouraged to
apply. The ideal candidate will also be a licensed health
practitioner (i.e. Athletic Therapist, Physiotherapist, Occupational
Therapist) and have clinical experience. Excellent written and verbal
communication skills are essential.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and highly competitive.

Preferred starting date: August 2009
