05-21-2009, 11:51 AM
A postdoctoral research position in the areas of osteochondral
mechanobiology and tissue engineering is available in the Department of
Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame.
Research areas include the use of mechanical loading to direct
mesenchymal stem cell differentiation in osteochondral tissue
engineering applications, cell-matrix interactions, and the study of the
biochemical pathways involved in differentiation.

Applicants should have completed a PhD in biomedical engineering or
related field, preferably with a concentration in mechanobiology, tissue
engineering, or stem cell therapeutics. A highly motivated candidate
with an experimental background, a strong academic record, and the
ability to work independently is sought. Experience with mammalian cell
culture and molecular biology techniques is required. Good written and
verbal communication skills are essential. Applicants will be expected
to integrate into a multidisciplinary bioengineering laboratory
comprised of faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate
students from the AME department, the Bioengineering Graduate Program,
and the Department of Biological Sciences.

The position is available immediately. The position is for an initial
one year with the possibility of renewal. Interested candidates may
send their CV, possible start date, and the names and contact
information of three references electronically to the email address below.
