A two-year post-doctoral fellowship is available for a candidate
interested in collaborative work on studies of biomechanical and
ultrasound assessment of shoulder pathology in subsets of Veteran?s with
Polytrauma induced connective tissue injuries including spinal cord
injury. Specifically, we are looking to examine biomechanical
measurements of the shoulder joint and ultrasonographic changes of the

space in patients who have sustained trauma to their shoulder or developed
shoulder pain syndromes, and examine the effects of non-surgical
treatments for these connective tissue pathologies. This is a
post-doctoral fellowship sponsored by the Department of Veteran Affairs ?
Richmond VA Medical Center. Biomechanical measurements using motion
analysis equipment will be made available from the Clinical Biomechanics,
Orthopedic and Sports Outcomes Research (COOR) laboratory in the VCU
Physical Therapy department directed by Dr. Lori Michener. The fellow will
also have access to two ultrasound scanners available in the Richmond VA
PM&R section and one scanner available in the VCU Physical Therapy COOR
laboratory together with portable biomechanical testing equipment for use
in the clinics at the VA Medical Center. The clinics are directed by Dr.
Jeffery Ericksen, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
