Chair in Human Movement Science, University of Salford, UK

Up to £81,035 per annum

This post offers an outstanding opportunity to support the School of Health,
Sport and Rehabilitation Sciences to deliver on its ambitious research
plans. The post has been established in response to institutional
commitment to considerable investment in research and reflects the
importance of Human Movement Sciences in the future success of the School
and University.

The post holder will have already demonstrated an ability to consistently
undertake and publish high quality human movement science research, to
attract external research income, and to develop innovative research
projects. Their particular research expertise will already be well defined
and evidenced through their research publications, but must fit one or more
of the nine research programmes in the School.

€ Clinical biomechanics in Health and Rehabilitation
€ Technologies for human movement measurement and rehabilitation
€ Foot and ankle biomechanics
€ Clinical Neurological Rehabilitation Research
€ Functional Electrical Stimulation
€ Physical activity, exercise and health
€ Strength and conditioning in Sport & Rehabilitation
€ Rheumatology Research
€ Diagnostic Imaging

Human Movement Science spans several of the nine research programmes and
represents the School¹s strongest area of research. The School is a leading
provider of UG, PG and research training for allied health professionals
including Podiatry, Prosthetics, Orthotics, Physiotherapy and Occupational
Therapy, as well as Sports Scientists and Sports Rehabilitation
professionals. The School is home to Europe¹s largest Podiatry department
and England¹s only Prosthetics and Orthotics Training facility. The
successful candidate can come from any discipline related to human movement
science, including the health professions, engineering and human sciences.

We have excellent facilities thanks to a series of investments totally
£3million since 2003. We have three on site gait and human performance
laboratories with state of the art equipment. These can support a wide range
of applications including basic science research, clinical studies, as well
as consultancy services. They are closely linked to other on site
facilities such as superb clinical suites and a Radiography unit (X Ray, CT
on site from late 2009).
