Apologies for duplicate messages.

The Bioengineering Group at the Instituto de Automática Industrial,
CSIC, Madrid, seeks

- 4 PhD students for research in the field of rehabilitation robotics.

The applicants will work within European and Spanish funded projects,
investigating how robotic exoskeletons and/or neuroprostheses can be
beneficial for diverse rehabilitation practices.

* Candidate 1: The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Mechanical
Engineering. The candidate should have a good background in robotics/
mechatronics and systems theory. Experience and competencies in 3D CAD
mechanical design and knowledge of robotic design and biomechanics
would be beneficial. A good English level is required. The applicant
will be involved in the development of the physical prototypes of
exoskeletons for the lower limb. This PhD is aimed at developing a
state of the art robotic exoskeleton for rehabilitation of gait
disorders.

* Candidate 2: The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Computer or
Electrical/Electronic engineering or Computer Science. Strong
programming skills in C, C++, MATLAB or equivalent are also required.
A good English level is required. The applicant will be involved in
the development of the physical prototypes, integration with other
sensors/systems, multi-sensor fusion, and testing of gait robotic
exoskeletons with humans. Therefore, knowledge in printed circuit
design, communication protocols, FPGA or microcontroller programming
are beneficial for this project. This candidate will interact with
other specialists in order to gain a hands-on understanding of the
robotic control system with human users and how it may be applied to
study the biomechanics of human walking.

* Candidate 3: The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Computer or
Electrical/Electronic engineering or Computer Science. Strong
programming skills in C, C++, MATLAB or equivalent are also required.
A good English level is required. The applicant will be involved in
the development of prototypes of hybrid orthoses/exoskeletons,
integration with other sensors/systems, and testing of hybrid orthoses
with human subjects. Therefore, the candidate should be strongly
motivated to work with kinematics analysis and control. Knowledge in
printed circuit design, communication protocols, FPGA or
microcontroller programming are beneficial for this project.

* Candidate 4: The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Mechanical
Engineering. The candidate will investigate musculoskeletal models
relevant for application of functional electrical stimulation (FES) in
diverse rehabilitation scenarios. The researcher will combine
experimental and computational
approaches to the study of human movement. Experience and competencies
in 3D CAD mechanical design is expected and knowledge of biomechanics/
kinesiology would be beneficial. A good English level is required. The
applicant will be involved in the development of experimental tools
for human movement analysis and computer modeling applied to the
musculoskeletal system.

The starting salary will be determined on the basis of the candidate's
experience.
