Research Assistant, Human Gait Laboratory

Job Description:

We are seeking a Research Assistant to work in the Human Gait Laboratory
at Boston University. The research in the Human Gait Laboratory is
focused on locomotor adaptation to robotic devices with particular
attention to the mechanics of the hip joint. The overall goal is to
further the understanding of motor adaptation and develop interventions
to reduce hip pain.

We are seeking a well organized, dependable individual to conduct
biomechanics and robotic research, set up and troubleshoot equipment
(including motion capture, EMG, force platforms, and robotic systems),
write computer programs, and collect, analyze, and present experimental
data. Additional duties will include assisting other faculty with
experiments; ordering equipment and supplies; assisting in writing
manuscripts and creating presentations; and minor clerical work. The
individual should be detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple
study related tasks concurrently. Strong interpersonal skills and desire
to be part of a research team are a must. The position is full time.

Desired Qualifications: Bachelorís degree in Kinesiology or Engineering
or related field (Masterís degree preferred). Experience with computer
programming (Matlab, Simulink, Visual 3D), electronics troubleshooting,
robotics, and/or biomechanics research is required.
