A doctoral position in Kinesiology is available in Dr. Anjana Bhat’s
research lab at the University of Connecticut-Storrs campus starting Summer
or Fall 2010. The successful applicant will participate in NIMH funded
research that examines the effects of novel motor interventions on motor
imitation, coordination, and social communication of children with autism
spectrum disorders. We will be studying the effects of robotic as well as
traditional motor interventions. The student will be funded by a research
cum teaching assistant position. Opportunities exist for collaborative
research with a large group of researchers in kinesiology/physical therapy
as well as motor control and developmental divisions of psychology.

The preferred applicant will have a Bachelor's or a Master's degree in
physical therapy or a related field in allied health or psychology as well
as experience working with typically and/or atypically developing young and
older children. Experience with motion analysis, behavioral coding, and
software programming would also benefit this research.
