View Full Version : Near infrared spectroscopy

Hi All,

I am currently looking at different approaches employed in the diagnosis of
chronic compartment syndrome - particularly in the anterior compartment of
the lower limb. Some of the papers I have come across have used near
infrared spectroscopy to measure tissue saturation levels pre, during and
post-exercise. I am not particularly familiar with this style of analysis
but am intrigued by the potential.

Does anyone have any experience of near infrared spectroscopy?

If so could you let me know how reliable you feel the approach is?
Are they many limitations? i.e is the depth of analysis limited to 30mm?
How expensive is the equipment?
Are there particular makes/suppliers that you would recommend?

I will of course post a summary of replies.
Many Thanks
