The Florida Gulf Coast University Department of Physical Therapy and Human Performance is seeking an Associate/Full Professor (Faculty Requisition #1078). Join a team dedicated to completing the transition to our new entry-level DPT curriculum, with the first class entered in the Fall, 2008.

The curriculum is centered on active student learning, utilizing mixed methods of instruction including face-to-face, web-based, and hybrid course delivery. Case-based group and individual learning experiences are integrated with contemporary physical therapy practice opportunities. In addition to the graduate program in Physical Therapy, the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Performance offers undergraduate degrees in both Athletic Training and Human Performance. An interdisciplinary philosophy encourages collaboration with faculty members across disciplines. Community partnerships provide opportunities for clinical practice and partnered research. Expectations for faculty members at Florida Gulf Coast University include teaching in the areas of individual expertise; service at the Department, College of Health Professions, and University levels; and an articulated scholarly agenda consistent with CAPTE expectations.

Minimum qualifications include: an earned academic doctorate from an accredited institution in an area relevant to the education and practice of physical therapy and expertise in neuromotor control and rehabilitation biomechanics aspects of the physical therapy curriculum. Preferred qualifications: a degree in Physical Therapy, five years of relevant clinical experience, and program- level leadership experience. Prior experience teaching in a graduate physical therapy program is strongly desired. Those candidates with a physical therapy degree must be eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in the State of Florida. Candidates with American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) are encouraged to apply.
