Dear colleagues,

The Division of Physical Therapy at the University of Kentucky is
seeking highly motivated students interested in pursuing a PhD in
Biomechanics. Applicants should have a personal interest in clinical
research and lower extremity injuries. We currently are working in the areas of running mechanics, osteoarthritis, ACL reconstruction,
and patellofemoral pain syndrome.

1. ATC, PT, and/or MS in biomechanics
2. Earned master's degree.
3. Previous experience in research is helpful.
4. Good oral and written communication skills.
5. Interest in mentoring graduate students
6. A strong work ethic and desire to learn

Laboratory: The Biomechanics Laboratory and Musculoskeletal Laboratory
at the University of Kentucky currently have 15 eagle motion analysis
cameras and multiple force plates including an instrumented treadmill.
Additional equipment includes: a metabolic cart, a Biodex isokinetic
dynamometer, numerous computing facilities, Matlab, Labview, and Visual
3D. The lab is very active with several masters and doctoral
students using the lab space for a variety of projects.

The position includes a 12 month stipend, as well as a tuition waiver for fall and spring semesters and health insurance.
This is a 12-Month renewable Position Available - August, 2010.

Lexington is a beautiful city situated in the rolling foot hills of the
bluegrass region of Kentucky. There are numerous outdoor activities
ranging from climbing to caving and kayaking, all within an hour's
drive. Lexington also has a rich cultural environment with a strong
arts and music scene. Additionally, Lexington benefits from a very
reasonable cost of living and temperate weather.
