Two Professorships of Biomedical Engineering (in association with
Magdalen College and St Hilda's College)

The University of Oxford intends to make two appointments to
Professorships of Biomedical Engineering in the Department of
Engineering Science from 1 October 2010, or as soon as possible
thereafter. The professorship in association with Magdalen College will
be in the area of tissue engineering or drug and vaccine delivery, and
the professorship in association with St Hilda's College will be in
cardiovascular engineering or biomaterials. The successful candidates
will have outstanding research records and will be of internationally
recognised stature in biomedical engineering. They will be expected to
pursue a research programme at the forefront of the subject, providing
research leadership to colleagues working in this field. They will have
the opportunity to work close to clinicians in state-of-the- art
laboratories, based in the recently-opened Institute of Biomedical
Engineering, and to shape the direction of research in the biomedical
engineering field.
