The division "Movement Analytics" in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Heidelberg University Hospital, Germany, is offering two research positions:

Postdoc position
A project studying the "Feasibility of a powered knee orthosis to enhance the mobility of the elderly" granted by the DFG (German Research Foundation) will be performed in cooperation with the University of Darmstadt, Germany For postdoctoral work a full time position (13 TV-L) is available for 3 years.

PhD position
A project on "Stability and risk of falling in pathologic gait in the context of prosthetics" will be performed in cooperation with Prof. Katja Mombaur of the "Optimization in Robotics & Biomechanics Group" at the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR), Heidelberg. We are seeking a PhD student who can be offered a two year contract (part time 13 TV-L; 50%) with the possibility of prolongation.

For both positions we require a diploma or masters degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, biomechanics or sports science. Experience in human movement analysis, biomechanical modelling, inverse dynamics, and programming skills are necessary for the postdoc position and are definitely a plus for the PhD position.

The motivation to work in an interdisciplinary team is expected. Working language is English next to German. Language skills in German would be helpful.
