View Full Version : Motion Analysis Lab Research Engineer Position Opening

05-25-2010, 05:34 AM
The Motion Analysis Laboratory (MAL) in the Department of Orthopedic
Surgery at Rush University Medical Center is seeking an intellectually
curious and engaged scientist to join our team as a Research Engineer. The
MAL, directed by Markus Wimmer, PhD and Kharma Foucher, MD, PhD, is
located in the recently completed Orthopedics Ambulatory Building on the
growing Rush campus near Downtown Chicago. The MAL features 12 Oqus
cameras (Qualisys), 2 high speed video cameras (Point Grey), 5 force
plates (Bertec) and a 16 channel wireless EMG system (Noraxon) as well as
other biomechanical testing equipment (Biodex, Novel, other). Research
areas include, but are not limited to, biomechanics of hip and knee
osteoarthritis and biomechanical function of patients after total hip and
knee arthroplasty.

Duties and responsibilities will fall roughly into three categories
(averaging approximately 33% each but the exact distribution varies):

1. Technical/administrative - e.g. maintaining IRB related documents,
maintaining subject testing database, generating motion study reports
2. "Internal" research support - Support research activities within the
core MAL group including subject testing, literature searches, preparing
visuals for manuscripts and presentations
3. "External" research - Help collaborators from within and beyond the
orthopedics department initiate and conduct short or long term research

Qualifications: MS in biomedical engineering, bioengineering,
kinesiology, biomechanics or related fields required. Position can be
adapted somewhat to suit the needs of an early stage PhD, within the
constraints of the above responsibilities. Prior motion analysis
experience is not strictly required but some biomechanics research
experience especially with human subject testing is preferred.
Demonstrable strong oral and written communications skills, basic
statistics knowledge, MATLAB programming experience, and fluency with
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access desired.

For more information please submit a CV or resume and cover letter to Dr.
Kharma Foucher at kharma_c_foucher@rush.edu. We would like to fill this
position very quickly!
