Dear colleagues - please see below for an opening at Zimmer, for a principal engineer in the area of Computational Biomechanics:

Zimmer, Inc., a global leader in the development, manufacturing and marketing of orthopaedic devices, currently has an immediate, full time opening for a Principal Engineer, Computational Biomechanics.

Principal Job Functions:
This engineer will join a Warsaw, Indiana-based team of computational biomechanicians. The functions of this team include: apply computational techniques in support of new product design; provide biomechanical expertise to research and development efforts, including risk analysis; acquire and/or develop new algorithms and software to improve the capabilities of the research team for predicting in vivo implant performance. Computational tools available to the team include functionalities for finite element analysis, multibody dynamics, injection molding, segmentation, model preprocessing, patient-specific analysis, and programming. It is expected that the Principal Engineer will transition fully into a Manager of the computational team.

Responsibilities for this engineer include:
1. Contribute technically to the functions of the computational biomechanics group
2. Provide leadership and vision to research in the area of computational biomechanics, actively looking for ways to improve techniques for addressing relevant questions
3. Interact closely with engineers and managers in other segments, including research and development, to maintain currency on current corporate objectives
4. Allocate computational personnel to development projects, and oversee technical work
5. Facilitate communication and resource allocations between the computational biomechanics group in Warsaw and computational resources elsewhere in the company
6. Develop the computational biomechanics personnel, technically and within the Zimmer organization, including increasing staff as appropriate
7. Motivate and manage research projects in the area of computational biomechanics, including external research efforts
8. Oversee hardware and software resources of the computational biomechanics team
9. Actively increase awareness of computational biomechanics in segments across the company, including research, development, manufacturing, brand marketing, and education.

Qualifications:
* Minimum qualifications include an M.S. degree in Engineering; a Ph.D. is preferred. Five years of experience in the orthopaedics industry, or equivalent, is required.

* Rigorous theoretical and practical grounding in the principles and application of computational biomechanics.

* Demonstrated personnel and project management expertise.

* Superior written and oral communication skills.

* Experience with all classes of computational biomechanical software, in order to appropriately assess value and utilization of these tools for current projects
