Health Sport Sciences

Job Summary/Basic Function

Instructor of Exercise and Sport Science. Full time, one year appointment in the Department of Health and Sport Sciences.

Contribute to classroom delivery of the undergraduate program in Exercise and Sport Science in one or more of the following areas: advanced methods of strength and conditioning (including sport conditioning), resistance training theory and applications (including ability to demonstrate Olympic lifts), aerobic training theory and applications, and internship supervision. The ability to teach other related undergraduate courses in health and sport sciences would also be beneficial. It is anticipated that the candidate has experience in the delivery of course materials utilizing a variety of instructional techniques.

Minimum Qualifications

An earned master's degree in exercise and sport science or a related area is required. CSCS credentials are required and ACSM HFI credentials are desired. Also desired are the experience and the ability to teach in the exercise and sport science undergraduate degree concentration in advanced methods of strength and conditioning theory, resistance training theory and applications, aerobic training theory and applications, and laboratory techniques (musculoskeletal, neuromechanics, and body composition). Candidates with defined research agendas and the ability to provide service initiatives on behalf of The University of Memphis and its Human Performance Laboratories are also desired.

Special Conditions

This position is funded by ARRA stimulus funding. Funding is available for one year. Continuation for an additional year will depend on the needs of the department, enrollment and any future budgetary cuts.
