Doctoral/Postdoctoral Research Position
at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for Fall 2010

The Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation Laboratory at the Center for
Ergonomics, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and College of
Health Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is seeking a
highly motivated graduate student/postdoctoral fellow to pursue research
in the field of biomechanics and neurorehabilitation.

The Center for Ergonomics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is a
new state-of-the-art facility, which houses 8,000 square feet of
multi-disciplinary research laboratories. The facility operates under
the supervision of five faculty members and works on a wide array of
government-funded and private industry projects. The facility includes a
gait analysis laboratory, tribology laboratory, imaging and materials
laboratory, a spine biomechanics laboratory, a general ergonomics
laboratory, and the hand rehabilitation laboratory.

Ideal applicants should have a degree in biomedical, mechanical,
industrial engineering, kinesiology, neuroscience, or a related
discipline. Research experience with human subjects, motion analysis,
force transducers, EMG, musculoskeletal modeling, statistical analysis
software, and programming (MATLAB, LabView) is a plus.

The labís specific research interests include:
1. Understand neurophysiologic and biomechanical mechanisms for poor
hand function following aging or neurologic disorders such as stroke.
2. Develop rehabilitative interventions and employ ergonomic design to
improve the quality of life for persons with sensorimotor impairment.

We will be working collaboratively with investigators in diverse
backgrounds including engineers, kinesiologists, neuroscientists,
therapists, and physicians.

Interested individuals should immediately email a curriculum vita and a
letter detailing the applicant's research interest to:
