PhD in Neuroscience with a specialization in Movement and Rehabilitation

PhD level graduate study is available in a newly established
specialization in Movement and Rehabilitation Science within the
Northwestern University Interdepartmental Neuroscience (NUIN) umbrella
program. The degree specialty comprises faculty and resources from
several units including NUIN, the Department of Physical Therapy and
Human Movement Sciences, the Department of Physiology, the Department of
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Department of Biomedical
Engineering, and other affiliated units across the Chicago and Evanston
campuses of Northwestern. The laboratories affiliated with MRS represent
a broad array of research interests for fundamental and clinically
applied experimental and modeling studies focused on movement and its

Students interested in earning a doctoral degree specialized in Movement
and Rehabilitation Science apply for admission to Northwestern
University directly through NUIN
(http://www.northwestern.edu/nuin/index.htm). The degree specialty draws
students from diverse backgrounds and disciplines including physical
therapy, occupational therapy and other health professions, exercise
science, biomechanics, engineering, and the basic sciences. The program
focuses on research training, and content areas are created to match the
interests of both the student and sponsoring faculty member.

All admitted NUIN students specializing in Movement and Rehabilitation
Science are given a graduate student fellowship that covers tuition
costs and a stipend for living. The stipend will continue throughout the
student's studies provided he/she remains in good academic standing.
Medical insurance is also provided.
