Three year fixed term contract
Salary - 36,020 - 39,046 p.a. inc.

The Department of Life Sciences has a strong biomechanics research team led by Professor Raymond Lee. We have been carrying out exciting research work related to back pain, ageing and osteoporosis, and the mechanisms of falling. The team comprises bioengineers and sport scientists who are interested in developing new technologies in studying physical activity and musculoskeletal problems.

The candidate will undertake research which aims to examine the feasibility of using mobile phone technologies and motion sensors to analyse daily activities, trips and falls in the elderly population. The person will also look at the use of similar technologies in examining the relationship between spine posture and musculoskeletal functions.

The successful candidate should be an engineer with a PhD, and has a background in health engineering/bioengineering/mechatronics/mechanical or electrical engineering, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications. Expertise in mechatronics, robotics, artificial intelligence, neural networks or statistical modelling would be highly desirable. The candidate must be meticulous in planning, executing and organising experiments, and be capable of taking initiative, and working independently in a collaborative setting. In addition, the candidate is expected to engage in income generation and knowledge transfer activities.
