The Trauma Mechanics Research Initiative
http://engineering.unl.edu/research/traumamechanics/) at the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln seeks a highly motivated post-doctoral
researcher to perform neuroscience/neurobiology research in the field
of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). This is part of a large scale effort
supported by the U.S. Army involving experiments on small animals,
cadavers, headforms and computational simulation. An immediate
appointment is available and a competitive salary will be offered
based on individual background and experience.

Specific qualifications include:

* Ph.D. in Neuroscience/Neurobiology or Biomechanical Engineering with
a focus in Neurobiology
* Experience in neuronal cell line (SH-SY5Y, PC12) and primary brain
cell cultures, neurite/axon growth assays using nerve growth factors,
neuronal cell-ECM adhesion assays, basic cell/molecular biology assays
(for assessing neuronal cell markers) and mechanistic pathways
* Experience in mechanical testing of neurons (e.g., neuronal cell
stretching) and microscopic analysis is preferred
* Additional experience measuring electrical signal transmission
between neurons beneficial
