We are seeking an individual to assist in a project that is developing large-scale finite element models of the human foot in order to predict how footwear can be designed to prevent tissue ulceration in people with diabetes. The successful applicant will work in Abaqus to develop patient-specific foot models. They will also develop techniques for "morphing" an existing mesh to a patient-specific mesh based on a small number of geometric measurements taken from the patient. This work is supported by an NIH grant.

We require experience with MATLAB, Abaqus, and Abaqus CAE for non-linear, large deformation problems. Programing knowledge to incorporate ITK (Insight Segmentation and Registration Toolkit) and VTK (Visualization Toolkit) for scientific software development. Familiarity with optimization techniques using MATLAB and experience with Simpleware would also be beneficial. This is a 12-month position.
