RE: Graduate Research Assistant Positions at the University of

The Orthopedic Biomechanics Laboratory in the College of Engineering &
Applied Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is seeking two
highly motivated graduate students to pursue research in the field of
biomechanics. Students will work on one of the following projects:

1) Development and Validation of a Lower Extremity Orthosis Finite Element

2) Use of Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Patient-Specific Modeling

The Orthopedics Biomechanics Laboratory collaborates with orthopedic
surgeons at the Medical College of Wisconsin (Milwaukee, WI) and UW Hospital
(Madison, WI) to improve orthopedic practice through biomechanics. The
fundamental research goal is to improve patient-specific computational
(finite element) models. Current projects involve the following clinical
applications: metastatic osteosarcoma and cerebral palsy.

Ideal applicants should have a BS degree in biomedical engineering,
mechanical engineering, or related disciplines. Experience with software
including: Mimics, Abaqus, Geomagic, Analyze, and MATLAB is preferred.

Review of applications will begin December 1, 2010, and continue until the
positions are filled. To apply email a cover letter and resume to Dr. Jill
Schmidt (schmi427@uwm.edu).

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is an affirmative action, equal
employment opportunity employer.
