Tenure-track Assistant Professor: The College of Charleston seeks candidates with specialty in Exercise Science for a tenure-track position in the Department of Health and Human Performance. This position will begin August 16, 2011.

Academic Responsibilities: Successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the Health and Human Performance department that offers a B.S. in Athletic Training and a B.S. in Physical Education with concentrations in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, and Teacher Education. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to conduct applied clinical research leading to publications and external grants, contribute to interdisciplinary research activities in the Department of Health and Human Performance, mentor undergraduate research, provide undergraduate student advising and engage in service to the College, community, and profession.

Teaching Assignments: Potential teaching assignments for this position include courses in biomechanics, kinesiology and motor learning. Expertise and experience of the successful candidate will be considered and may alter eventual teaching assignments. Ability to teach across majors and disciplines within the department is preferred.

Qualifications: Successful candidate will possess an earned doctorate in Exercise Science or related field with background in kinesiology and/or, motor learning, and/or biomechanics, and/or neuromuscular control. Teaching experience in higher education and post-doctoral research experience preferred Affiliation with ACSM, NSCA and or a clinical background also preferred.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
