Dear colleagues,

The 2011 Design of Medical Devices Conference (DMD2011) will be held
April 12-14, 2011 in Minneapolis, USA. Detailed information on the

DMD2011 aims to provide a national forum to bring together world-class
medical device designers, researchers, manufacturers, and the public
sector to share perspectives and innovations in medical device design.

Dario (Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa, Italy), Mauro Ferrari
(University of Texas/Rice University, USA), Jeffrey Kahn (University of
Minnesota, USA), Timoty Laske (Medtronic AF Solutions, Minneapolis,
USA), Dev Mukhopadyav, (Mayo Clinic, Minnesota, USA), Shuming Nie
(Georgia Tech, Atlanta, USA) and Jeffrey Shuren (Food and Drug
Administration, USA).

The conference seeks original papers that demonstrate new technologies
and applications in the field of medical device design. Submissions from
academic and industry researchers, clinicians and practitioners are

All accepted papers will be published in their entirety in the
Proceedings of the Design of Medical Devices Conference, available as a
CD to conference participants. The abstracts from accepted papers will
also be published in the ASME Journal of Medical Devices.

The conference accepts submissions for the following technical tracks:
TRK 1: Cardiovascular
TRK 2: Neuroengineering
TRK 3: Orthopedics
TRK 4: Urologic
TRK 5: Rehabilitation
TRK 6: Engineered Tissues
TRK 7: MEMS and Nano
TRK 8: Surgical Tools
TRK 9: Computer Modeling and Simulation
TRK 10: Design and Human Factors
TRK 11: Medical Device Product Development Process
TRK 12: Regulatory and Intellectual Property
TRK 13: Special Devices Topics
Interested authors must submit their draft paper and abstract through
the ASME DMD Conference Toolbox by December 15, 2010 for peer review.
Draft and final papers are 2-8 pages in length. All papers will be
peer-reviewed and the authors will be notified by 31 January 2011.
