The Department of Kinesiology at California State University, San Marcos invites applications for a tenure track position at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning Fall 2011. Applicants should have teaching and research specialization in Human Motor Control.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned Ph.D. in Kinesiology/Exercise Science/Bioengineering or related field with training and research in the area of Human Motor Control. ABD candidates will be considered but must have completed the doctorate at the time of appointment (August 2011). Candidates must demonstrate the potential for success in teaching undergraduate students, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with colleagues on an ethnically and culturally diverse campus. Candidates must also provide evidence of their ability to develop and sustain an independent, externally funded research program involving undergraduate students, leading to original, peer-reviewed publications.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants with the ability to teach courses in additional areas such as measurement and evaluation, movement anatomy, analysis of weight training, and/or biomechanics are preferred. CSUSM places great value upon the development of educational and research partnerships within the community and candidates with a history of interdisciplinary collaboration and/or community-based research are desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in motor control and learning and other courses related to their expertise This individual will also be expected to advise and mentor undergraduate Kinesiology majors, develop and maintain an independent research program, and serve on college and university-level committees. As part of a growing department within the newly formed College of Education, Health and Human Services, the successful candidate will serve an important role in the development of new graduate programs and will enhance the education of our majors through experiential learning and student research.
