The division Anatomy at the Subfaculty Medicine, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven Campus Kortrijk (Kulak), is looking for a highly motivated researcher to carry out a PhD project in the domain of Functional Anatomy and Biomechanics of the Musculoskeletal System and to assist in the practical sessions Anatomy in the Bachelor degree Medicine.

The Kulak is a small university campus, located in the South-West of Flanders, offering a wide range of Bachelor degrees. It is part of the renowned Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, but has its own education and research profile which is complimentary to the larger city campuses. It is the only campus in Flanders where you can find all faculties and degrees in one building complex. This makes that there are good contacts between students and lecturers across all disciplines, which offers good opportunities for interdisciplinary research.

Your role:
- You assist and demonstrate in the practical sessions Anatomy in the Bachelor degree Medicine;
- You provide educational support to the Human Anatomy course;
- You prepare a PhD in the domain of Functional Anatomy and Biomechanics of the Musculoskeletal System.
Your profile:
- You have a Masterís degree in the domain of Biomedical Sciences or equivalent. You should have obtained your Masterís degree prior to appointment (last year students can also apply for this position);
- You have a good knowledge and strong interest in Anatomy and Biomechanics;
- You have experience in dissections, or you are willing to acquire these skills;
- You are creative, like to take initiative and able to work independently;
- You have good educational and communicative skills and necessary sense for responsibility.
Our offer:
- A full-time appointment as research assistant (AAP) for a period of two years, renewable, at the division Anatomy, subfaculty Medicine, Kulak (Kortrijk, Belgium).
- Provisional start date: 1-10-2011. Earlier start date is possible.
