CALL FOR ABSTRACTS - ASME International Design Engineering Technical Conference & Computers and and Information in Engineering Conference

2011 Modeling and Simulation in Biomechanics Symposium
Location: Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, Washington, DC, USA
Date: August 28-31, 2011
Abstract Deadline: February 11, 2011
Draft Paper Deadline: February 18, 2010

The 31st Computers and Information in Engineering Conference (CIE) is an integral part of the 2011 ASME International Design Engineering Technical Conferences and Computers and Information in Engineering Conferences (2011 IDETC/CIE). This Conference is sponsored by the Computers & Information in Engineering Division and provides a forum for enhancing the practice of engineering by understanding the application of emerging technologies that impact critical engineering issues of representation, product design and product development, exchange, management and integration of information throughout the entire engineering product and process life-cycle. As in last year, a key theme for this year’s conference will be “bridging the gap between CIE research and practice”. Electronic submissions of technical papers and panel presentations are solicited by the four technical committees of the Computers and Information in Engineering Division. In addition to the submission of technical papers, the conference organizers encourage the submission of special technical sessions and cross conference symposia proposals as well as special presentations.

Authors and presenters are invited to participate in this 31st CIE conference to expand international cooperation, understanding and promotion of efforts and disciplines in the area computers and information in engineering. Dissemination of knowledge by presenting research results, new developments, and novel concepts in the 31st CIE Conference will serve as the foundation upon which the conference program of this area will be developed.
The CIE-14 AMS: Modeling and Simulation in Biomechanics Symposium is intended to focus on the many advances that are presently taking place in Modeling and Simulation in Biomechanics.

Session Topics include (but are not limited to):
• Mechanotransduction, Mechanobiology, Bioreactor Simulation, Correlation of Experimental/Theoretical
/Biological and Histological Results and Identification Procedures
• Motion Analyses, Kinesiology, and Musculoskeletal Systems
• Joint Biomechanics, Role of Ligaments and Muscles, Muscle-Ligament Interaction and Rehabilitation
• Subject Specific Modeling and Validation
• Orthopaedics Systems, Implants and Medical Devices, Pre-Clinical Assessment Techniques
• Computational Models for Tissue Engineering, Mechanobiology, Scaffold Architecture. Functional Adaptation
and Biomimetics
• Soft Tissue Modeling and Constitutive Laws for Musculoskeletal Structures including bone, ligaments,
tendons, and muscles
• Rigid Body Dynamics, Finite Element Analysis, and combined modeling

Selected papers from this session/workshop will be considered for publication in a special issue of the Journal of Computing and Information Science in Engineering.
