Physical Therapy Coordinator
Running Injury Clinic
Spaulding National Running Center
Cambridge, MA

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as the Physical Therapy Coordinator of the newly developing Running Injury Clinic at the Spaulding National Running Center (SNRC).

The mission of SNRC is to become a premier site in the country for the evaluation, treatment and prevention of running-related, musculoskeletal injuries. To this end, we will engage in cutting edge research with innovative technologies and cross-discipline collaborations to provide the foundation for evidence-based practice. In addition, we will recruit and train the brightest clinicians to provide the best care possible to these patients. Finally, we will educate future scientists in conducting outstanding research that will continue to enhance the understanding, treatment and prevention of these running-related injuries. We also plan to extend these ideas to orthopedic conditions affecting locomotion, such as osteoarthritis, total hip and knee replacements and amputations.

In order to achieve the goals of patient care, research and graduate education, the center will have both a clinical and academic affiliation. The SNRC will reside within the Spaulding Outpatient Center in Cambridge, MA and will be administrated by the Harvard Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. There will be a very strong synergy between the two components of SNRC: the Running Injury Clinic and the Running Research Laboratory. The Boston area provides an extremely rich environment for this center, given its strong medical and academic communities, along with its longstanding history with the Marathon. Cambridge, itself, is ideally situated given its proximity to Harvard and MIT, along with the extensive running population within this local community.

The Coordinator of the Running Injury Clinic will be responsible for the evaluation and treatment of injured runners. Along with patient care, this individual will also have the opportunity to become involved in ongoing research, journal clubs, marketing and continuing education courses. Successful applicants must be licensed physical therapists with a minimum of 5 yrs experience, including a specialized focus on injured runners. SCS and/or OCS certification is highly recommended. Excellent written and oral communication skills are requisite.
